Here's an idea for a new back to school tradition! I have four children born in 1990, 1992, 1993 and 1994! Having them so close together, it always felt like we were getting ready for another birthday party. So rather than do big birthday parties outside the home, which can get Very Expensive, where everybody feels obligated to bring a gift, we used to keep them family oriented and personal with family members only,(cousins aunts uncles etc). In order to have a big party with friends, we used to have a big BACK-TO-SCHOOL PARTY. It was a HUGE success! Kids would bring their bathing suites and towels to play in the water, each family brought a covered dish to share, and we did not have a huge pile of new toys to stuff in the already overflowing toyboxes.
